Anyway, what would be the reaction these days on Broadway if the National Anthem was unexpectedly played before a performance? What would you do?
I will stay seated, in our current climate, and perhaps put my fingers in my ears. Check back with me in 2021. To quote Assassins, "The country is not what it was."
The anthem was played, as mentioned below, at the top of the On The Town revival. When I saw that production, I stood proudly and felt that it added something special to the evening. I wouldn't feel that way now. |
