| Just saw Pass Over by Antoinette Nwandu at the Claire Tow Theater @ Lincoln Center. It's a terrific piece of theater that is really about everything going on in this country today. The premise is that 2 African American men are seemingly stranded on a neglected corner of an urban street. They dream of "passing over" to the "land of milk and honey". It's kind of a Waiting for Godot for the 21st century. But it's probably best to keep any description of the play to a minimum as no description will prepare you for the power of this angry, tragic and very powerful piece of theater. It has 3 of the best performance currently on a New York stage from Jon Michael Hill, Namir Smallwood and a chilling Gabriel Ebert. Although playing only until 7/15, I can't believe that it won't move on to another venue. Catch this if you can. |
