I saw Conflict last night. It's a first-rate production of a fine play that stands the test of time. Written almost 100 years ago, it is both eerily timely today, with its examination of the one percent of the day, and also a sad reminder that goals of the Labor movement are still unrealized.
It is a particular joy when all the elements of a production work so well together. In this case, the sumptuous set, the gorgeous costuming, the impeccable casting and directing all combine to provide a satisfying evening at the theater.
I haven't been a fan of some of the productions of this very well regarded theater company, although I'm always supportive of its mission. Some of the plays I've seen there I felt were just too "creaky" and didn't speak to a modern audience. But to me, Conflict is a winner! It's running until July 21.
