I agree with you about Rannell's performance in ''The Book of Mormon.'' Even though Elder Price is so narcissistic, silly and deluded (about Orlando notably), he still came off lovable, if misguided, thanks to Rannells' charisma. You still believed he was a missionary who wanted to do good. Plus, when he belted ''I Believe'' in front of the African warlord, Rannells not only showed off his powerful pipes but maintained his innocence and guileless fervor in such a comically absurd situation.
If it were up to me, Rannells should've won the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical that year. |
