| Saw this afternoon's performance and was really impressed! I've never seen Denzel Washington better-and that's saying a lot! He was extraordinary, especially in his confession scene in the last act-whole audience seemed spellbound! I don't understand the complaints about his facing the audience during this monologue-felt George Wolfe made a great choice, and it was so much more immediate and shattering.He got great work from all his actors-David Morse,Tammy Blanchard,Neal Huff,Reg Rogers and Austin Butler just to name the ones who impressed me most. And Santo Loquasto and Ann Roth really redeemed themselves after the uneven Carousel-they're back at peak form thankfully. A wonderful day at the theater-it's only playing 2 more weeks,so run for tickets! I can honestly say the 4 hours just flew by! |
