Roundabout has the most idiotic ticket policy that I have ever encountered

I am a Roundabout subscriber and need to change my date for a performance. Roundabout is not sending out subscriber tickets for a few months and will not let you change the date until you physically receive the ticket. However, tickets will be available to the general public before then. So even though I know which date and time and seat I want to exchange into, I cannot do that for months, during which many of the desirable seats will be taken.

That policy is completely idiotic. Signing up as a subscriber before general sale puts you at a disadvantage. If you wait until general sale, you can pick your seat and date. If you sign up early, you can not.

Has it always been like this? It's a disincentive to renew early, which seems to be exact opposite of what a theater company would want.

I would reserve the worst subscriber service prize for Manhattan Theatre Club. On two different occasions they sent me tickets for two different plays at the same time.

That happened to me once when I was an MTC subscriber too

So you could easily go back and forth to see both shows.

most subscription houses hold seats turned in for other subscriber exchanges

Most likely there will be good seats available for what you want closer to the date.

Yes. Often, I've found with the Roundabout that when I choose to change the date, the same seat is available.

Same, and if it isn't, it's usually right across the aisle

My seats are Orch B1 in S54 and B114 in AA (both are aisle seats) and generally, if I don't get that seat upon exchange, I get the one right across the aisle from it. Works for me

Thank you both! I'm still not sure I understand how this policy benefits Roundabout at all, but I'm crossing my fingers that good seats will still be available after I get my ticket in the mail.

I've been a Roundabout subscriber forever. They set aside seats that only subscribers have access to. I've always gotten good seats when making an exchange even when I do it a few days before my original performance.
