Agreed.

Though obviously I'm not happy to hear about the homophobia surrounding this, I'm also not happy that they were seemingly making a huge and ridiculous change to the show. Though who knows what is really true here.

But this does seem like just another example of "have the opponents read the script or done any research on the show?" Of course not. They've decided it's about "turning people gay" without any actual facts to support that. Typical, but shameful.

According to their website, Michael is indeed in the production, but it’s unclear to what extent. I’m surprised permission was given to make such a huge change, if it is indeed true. Sadly, though, Hungary has been explained to me by friends who have lived there as a deeply homophobic country. Budapest (and all of Hungary) has had quite a vibrant musical theatre scene for decades, and I feel for the artists who may be affected by this, and future, censorship.
