Is the sound issue volume, or blend of ensemble/soloists and orchestra? This show always had a challenge in that area, since 1/4 of the instruments are played inside the story, mixed with the pit band at the sound board. Is that the reaction, or is it simply too softly presented/set in the video?
I tend to find the sound too soft in traditional filmed musicals, i.e. "Mama Mia," "Rent," "Evita" (especially). Old enough to remember when "Tommy" was at least a roof raiser. |
