I DO remember that in the very first Broadway play I ever saw, "Girls of Summer" with Shelley Winters, Pat Hingle, and George Peppard one of the characters was a homosexual and he committed suicide near the end of the play. I was in HS at the time, and the idea was very confusing to me...…...lots of things were confusing to me at that time. But, it's another example of the times.
