I decided to go to Carousel this evening though I was given the option of past dating.
Just want to say Nicholas Belton as Billy and Rosena M. Hill as Nettie were both fine tonight and I didn't miss Henry or Fleming.
Belton had one moment when his mic fell off in the wrong direction while he was singing but he was able to make a quick adjustment until he could leave the stage to fix it.
I had forgotten that Belton had delighted me as Andrey and his father in The Great Comet.
I haven't seen the show since early April and I felt the show has improved and I enjoyed the whole evening. I felt Jessie Mueller has really grown as Julie, she no longer fades into the background.
There also have been a few small cuts. There is less of the Starkeeper and Mrs. Mullin doesn't appear at Billy's death--which I think was a smart deletion.
I saw the show in April from the rear mezzanine but today I saw the show from the rear orchestra which was a great view. The lighting is quite striking in the show.
I also did not find there was too much dancing tonight so I wonder if this has to do with pacing. |
