There was much to admire about it. I didn't love the show, but I would certainly have been very happy for a cast recording.
I think that production and the Illyria a few years later at the Hudson Guild were the last times I saw a completely unamplified musical with more than just piano or piano and percussion. I didn't like Illyria nearly as much as The Pursuit of Persephone, but it was so nice to hear them performed with no amplification at all. |
