| And can we doubt that if Klausner had asked not to be in the ensemble, LuPone would have complained about how she made special demands rather than accepting her rightful place in the ensemble? And that clearly she wanted to rest up so that she would be especially good at her two performances a week and thereby possibly overshadow the real star (as if she could)? I can't imagine what it must have been like when Klausner's club act got a rave from John S. Wilson in the Times three months after LuPone's act at Les Mouches got a very mixed review in the Times (leaning, if anything, a tad negative) from John Rockwell. Admittedly, LuPone's act got raves elsewhere. |
