Bernadette Peters is giving one of her very best performances as Dolly. With respects to Midler and Murphy, I can not imagine the night being any more of a joy in their hands. I started smiling very early during the performance I saw and the smile never left my face. In fact, there were smiles all around me at the Shubert. The production is in terrific shape from top to bottom, and Peters truly had us all in the palm of her hand. Her performance is a triumph. |
