| I saw, and enjoyed, the production when it was still at the National. McCutcheon, as was often the case, was out. Her understudy, Alexandra Joy, was a delight. The effect of the production was the opposite of the LCT version. The big numbers, choreographed inventively by Matthew Bourne, carried the day. I remember being tickled by Eliza taking public transportation and crossing paths with suffragettes during “Show Me.” Pryce’s Higgins was rather good company. He sang his numbers, which added to the sense that he had no major trouble accessing his emotions. That played through to the final laughter. He was simply s product of his time and place. |

Pryce did really sing the role, that I recall. - Delvino 02:26 pm EDT 07/06/18 |
