Had some fun posting the linked clip of the 66/67 opening credits of "The Pruitts of Southhampton" sit-com
on my social media in celebration of the resignation of Scotty Pruitt
Using the ATC side of my brain, it got me thinking: Why are movies such a source material for so many Broadway Shows ,
but TV shows are rarely musicalized or turned into plays (?) -THE ADDAMS FAMILY comes to mind .of course, like ANNIE, it is also based on a comic strip (a good argument might be most/all of the sit-coms turned into movies have been less than BOFFO at the B.O).
but AF does qualify as a sit-com musical, since they tapped (last minute?) into the iconic theme music.
What other plays/musicals have been based on tv shows ?
If the PRUITTS OF SOUTHAMPTON was to be musicalized
it does have Jerry Herman written all over it - note the staircase !!
