I feel like Green's sense of his role as a critic has changed since he got to the Times. When he wrote for NY Magazine, I generally found his writing thoughtful and measured, and even if I didn't share his take, I appreciated the perspective he offered. Recently, I feel like his reviews have gotten more irritable and pompous, and he's showing more of a tendency to "correct" the mistakes that he perceives in a play. I don't know if it's something in the water or the culture in the Times building, but I miss the old Jesse Green.
