I'm sure we didn't see the same performance, but the exact same spontaneous thing happened when I saw it.
Also, the courtroom scene, where the cast just stops and watched Dolly eat her dinner, was endless. Maybe this worked great with Midler but...
I love Peters, who was so brilliant in FOLLIES. Garber, Baldwin and Fontana are terrific pros and always worth watching.
For me, Charlie Stemp's Barnaby steals the show and someone should be writing a new musical for him. |
