I agree Theo was good. As were Samantha Marie Ware and Peter Laprade.
If you like Theo Stockman, you may get something out of the show. I thought he was pretty good and really living in his characterization of Steve Rubell
If you like twink dancer boys who really do dance their butts off and often, you might like the show. They are giving their all up there.
If you liked Chilina Kennedy in Beautiful, you will just be shaking your head here. She's a "cougar" here. This whole character is way over the top - and at one point she sat in a chair in a very unlady-like position and I received much more than I paid for.
If you like Maureen and Joanne in RENT, you will not be happy with this attempt to create a happy, loving, "cool" lesbian couple. The whole show "stops" several times to cut to them and they sing a song. And by stop, I mean stop....
If you think you will hear any disco music you might recognize or that is a strong copy of popular disco music, you will be disappointed.
If the whole concept of waiting at the door, trying to get in, being told your not hot enough (or maybe that you are) might feel tiresome as it repeats again and again into the 2nd hour, you might not like the show. The costumes/party outfits are not "to die for" and didn't show that magic that could get you chosen, so I found the whole conceit a bit unbelievable in practice, even though we all know the stories of attempting to get in to Studio 54 in its heyday. |
