Ashford is like tailor made for Mabel. But if not her then Emma Stone, obviously. Or Anna Kendrick is pretty well suited, as is Kristin Bell. I wonder how Selena Gomez would fare, or like a Diana DiGarmo.
And for Mack I could see... besides the unlikely Jackman... i'd like to see Seth MacFarlane... maybe even more than Jackman. Or Alec Baldwin. Or Antonio Banderas... or Brian Stokes Mitchell, Andy Karl, Patrick Wilson, Nathan Lane (maybe), even Mandy Patinkin. Also Tom Wopat, Brian D'Arcy James, Kelsey Grammer (though I'd rather someone with a stronger voice), and Danny Burstein (though I'm properly sick of him being cast now). I'd also throw Max Von Essen in the mix, though he's too young.
And on the off chance he's looking to do a Broadway musical revival... Robert Downey Jr.
I've been obsessing over this show recently too!
Can anyone explain HOW it got snubbed for a Best Score nomination? With classics like "The Lieutenant" and "Letter for Queen VIctoria" beating it for a slot, the later wasn't even nominated for Best Musical and M&M was. Baffling. |
