| Count me among this show's big fans. And an under-loved gem of a hit acclaimed big Tony winner musical. I'm very surprised Encores hasn't done it, especially since I think it would be very easy to court at least big theater names for an Encores production of it. I also think Roundabout would happily do it, and would not be deterred by the orchestrations - they haven't been for old classic musicals, or Sondheim musicals that many many people would say "don't do it if you can't do it with an actual orchestra" and they just do it anyway to the show and audience's notable detriment. So I'm not sure why that would stop them... I think the question would also be is there a big enough audience or big enough stars to justify doing the physical production well enough. I think if it's done well and gets great reviews, then yes there would be. |
