Kail would, of course, be perfect for it, and I would imagine it's his if he wants it-- for reasons you cite. And, of course, if IN THE HEIGHTS is selected for the Live TV treatment then he would have to be the choice.
The reason I floated the idea of Miranda for a film version is because I think he might bring something to the project that nobody else would-- a depth of feeling for the place and time and specificity of that neighborhood. I guess I want to see what Miranda can do behind the camera, given his myriad other talents. And if he does ever want to step into the director's role, this would be a good vehicle for him. I think he could craft something wonderful and exuberant. (but I would still of course be happy if Kail does it). |
