| Sadly I think even if Kail wants it, it is far from his. Taking a chance on a stage director, even with awards for live TV musical direction of a big hit broadcast, is a rare thing and usually seems to be blamed for helping to sink the film project. And musicals are very expensive, obviously, and risky bets... and it's not like In the Heights has a West Side Story level name recognition... so I'm sure any studio risking 30-60 million plus advertising is going to want an exciting but proven film director at the helm. |
