Christine Ebersole in concert at Sea
Posted by: wisebear 05:39 am EDT 07/08/18

Wow. What a star. And what a trouper! During a particularly rough night at sea aboard the Playbill cruise to Iceland, Christine powered through, although she had to confine herself to the crook of Seth’s baby grand for her own safety. It didn’t inhibit her in the least.

Opening was a searing and powerful Lullaby of Broadway.

I Can’t Say No
Glocca Morra
Simple Joys of Maidenhood
To Keep My Love Alive
Bill
Grey Gardens medley
Duet with Paulo Szot**
Pink
I Do What I Can (Paper Moon)
If He Walked Into My Life
Send In The Clowns

**Okay, don’t freak out. Christine made it VERY clear that this was something they would NEVER be cast in. And then we were treated to the most amazingly sung version I’ve ever heard of I Loves You Porgy. Spectacular.

It was a thrilling evening, even after a day that included volcanoes, steam spouts, bubbling mud holes, and other incredible wonders of Iceland.

The evening ended with the whole ship joining in a show tune singalong until 2 in the morning, led by me at the piano. Fun!!!
