That's the downside to being a part of a hit television series...the fame gives you currency to become involved in exciting new projects, but your television schedule only lets you be involved for a limited time, something that doesn't usually work for commercial theatre where they'd want a commitment of 6-12 months to sell tickets on your name.
This is where I think the UK will always be superior to the US. Shorter television seasons don't tie up actors for as much time, allowing them to pursue outside projects. And having things centralized in a single city (and with other locations a much shorter commute away) even allows actors to do more than one project at a time.
I hope Conrad Ricamora gets all the success he deserves and I'm looking forward to seeing him in this when it comes to New York. |
