And even in Pygmalion, it would be going against both the text and Shaw's epilogue if a production were directed in ways that suggest that Higgins and Eliza have no affection for each other and that they do not admire each other greatly. I'm not saying this production does that, but while Pygmalion does not suggest a romance between Higgins and Eliza, it's quite clear and directly stated in their lines that they have admiration and even affection for each other.
