What would you do if the gay play were not as good as the “straight” play? Would you vote for it anyway?
I am both Jewish and gay. And I was a Tony nominator for three years, and I can tell you I only voted on the merits of the work and did not let my lifestyle or religion come into it. I am not saying that we don’t have biases, but I am saying that all of us on that committee, and I am sure the same can be said of subsequent and previous committees, had integrity. I find your suggestion both closed-minded and bigoted. Sorry, but that’s how I read what you said. |
