What is going on here? Jewish group voting?? A Liberal Zionist lobby? I'm not part of the 'nyc theater world' but I've certainly met a lot of people in it, and that world seems to be comprised of opinionated theatre lovers who enjoy debating the relative merits of different shows and performances. Their heritage or politics might influence how they perceive a show, but there always seems to be a healthy degree of disagreement about what works and what doesn't....and what is award-worthy.

And "zionist"....? That loaded word carries many meanings for many people and I'm not sure why it got introduced here in this superficial way, unless it's supposed to infer something about biases in favor of THE BAND'S VISIT. People across the political spectrum seem to like the humanity in that show, though many debate whether it would be award-winning in a more competitive year....anyway, I loved it and I'm not going to characterize myself as a 'liberal zionist'.

And as for consensus about theatre and awards: Rarely... except everyone seems to have loved HAMILTON and feels sad that THE GREAT COMET ended its run under a cloud.
