It's mentioned in the ALW autobiography that just came out. But I didn't know this prior to reading that. Apparently Hal kept an eye on ALW and Rice and came round the next time asking for Evita. I've always felt Prince deserves an authorship for Evita. I too love the score on its own merits (it's my favorite ALW musical, and my favorite musical period!). But Prince's direction adds vital elements to the storytelling that are not written. One example that stands out is the two young girls Peron bounces on his knees during Rainbow Tour. In one of the tableaux it freezes with Peron trying to put his hand up her dress and she has a horrified look on her face. I know because I have read a lot about the Perons that he was said to have a perhaps inappropriate interest in young girls. We sort of get this from the Mistress, but the Mistress has always seemed older to me than the two girls in the Rainbow Tour scene.
