| So...what happens here if Walter Bobbie and/or Leslie Stifelman is determined to have bullied Loeffelholz in an attempt to get him to quit CHICAGO? I assume that criminal charges would depend on whether authorities think there's enough evidence that Loeffelholz killed himself directly because of their actions. But aside from that, how do the Weisslers and the General Management of the production move forward? In the case of Stifelman, it seems fairly straightforward. She would be fired and that would be that. But the Weisslers can hardly sever their relationship with Bobbie without actually closing CHICAGO, not only in New York, but around the world. How would this be handled? I guess they could fire him in the sense of severing any current business relationship they have with him in relation to continuing to maintain the production and rely on others to keep the show in shape going forward. But he's still going to be the director of record and, I imagine, would still be collecting a check every week as the production's director. And I'm sure he'll be crying all the way to the bank. Perhaps he would be blacklisted in the theatre and his career would be over, but I'm sure that he's made and continues to make more than enough money from CHICAGO to not be out on the streets. Short of any criminal charges that could be filed, I don't see any way to "punish" Bobbie, even if he is found to have driven an actor to suicide. |
