It's interesting because I kind of feel the same way as the original post here.
I saw the movie the summer of 01 the first night in a big multi plex in St. Louis, they (the theater and a radio station promo) were dressing people up in the door when they walked in with boas and god knows whatever else and handing out glitter, masks, you name it. Radio folks were holding trivia questions about the cast members before the show, and I remember winning a big top hat and cane for answering a question about Leguizamo's "Freak."
Saw the movie in the theater. Loved it. Danced to the songs in the clubs that summer and beyond.
As much as I loved the movie, for whatever the reason ... I just didn't go see it again. Time, classes, life, things to do, concerts, etc., then 9/11 happened and it just happened that Moulin Rouge just kind of went away and I didn't end up seeing it again for quite a number of years.
And then I remember in seeing it again - I just wasn't into it. I knew the plot, I had sung all the songs ... I had just tired of it. So now it's just kind of a there movie - if I see it on Netflix or whatever, I don't watch it. If I flip through the channels and it comes up, I keep flipping.
The show comes to Broadway - probably will have no desire to see it. |
