| "he had to find ways to connect a series of episodes into a unified dramatic throughline, beyond merely telling a biography" -- this is so key and so monumental... and so the OPPOSITE of what was done in the Grandage/Ashford revival. I was so much more bored than I expected to be because it was just a straight up literal biography with nothing else going on, despite what I know is there or should be there. |
