"Why didn’t Cher attend the opening night in Chicago and walk out on stage after the show?
Also, there are NO official press pictures of her backstage with the cast???
Strange!"
What's so strange about it? She saw one of the final previews (actually, I think she saw three). I don't know what, if any, official capacity she has on the show. She clearly has input. She has met the cast, but even those photos don't show her face. Why *would* she take official pictures with the cast? Why *would* she appear on the stage? I would think that would be weird. Also, she's 72 years old. She just might not want to stand side by side with younger versions of herself. As to why she wasn't there opening night? Well, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again has just opened. She may be out doing PR for that, or possibly preparing for her upcoming tour. Maybe she didn't want to steal the casts' thunder. Bob Mackie was in town, and he didn't take the stage, either.
Cher is notoriously cautious of her image.
"I get my picture stolen a lot. I won’t say taken. And I always want people to be polite and respectful of my space. And it all depends on how I am feeling." |
