| Yikes, GREEN ACRES THE MUSICAL. Is THE ADDAMS FAMILY the closest thing we've ever had to a successful TV series-to-musical adaptation? That one ran for nearly two years, but I don't think it returned its investment in the original Broadway production (maybe later, with tour and licensing). TV shows just don't seem to be a rich pool of source material, probably due to the difficulty of translating something that's meant to be ongoing and tell multiple stories into a single story with beginning, middle, and end. Am I not thinking of something obvious? (Time will tell on Spongebob, which could clean up in regional markets.) |
