| One potential problem is that whomever would be cast as Mack will have to make peace with playing an extremely unlikeable character who does some terrible things. This is not Julian Marsh with a gruff exterior and a heart of gold buried within. You can't approach the role in any way to comment on it or try to separate actor and role in a "I'm doing something awful, but I'm so charming that you really like me, right?" kind of way. Mack has to be a straight up SOB and the audience has to like him anyway. And that is so difficult to accomplish. |
