Lest we forget, wife #2, Marla Maples [Trump], was a replacement Ziegfeld's Favorite in THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES. Anyone see her in it?
I believe that she also did a concert show with Tommy Tune around that same time. I vaguely recall them coming to the Forrest in Philadelphia to do it, but don't remember if they ever did it in New York or not.
I remember hearing or reading a story about them attending the opening of the DAMN YANKEES revival at which the celebrities attending would sign their names to baseballs either for later display or for a charity auction or something. Both Trump and Marla signed baseballs and she moved on to something else. He actually called her back to the signing booth in front of cameras because she'd signed her name "Marla Maples" and he had her come back to add the "Trump" at the end. I suppose it must have rankled him that she kept her own name and added his, rather than just dropping hers. And it's probably not surprising that this was the most short-lived of his marriages so far. He doesn't strike me as having any use for a wife who wants more than to be just a satellite of the great man. |
