The July 14, 2018 event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will take place in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenues). Festivities begin at 3 p.m.; celebrity presentations of adoptable pets take place between 5-6:30 p.m. This rain or shine event is free and open to the public. Established in 2018, the Mary Tyler Moore Award is given out each year at Broadway Barks to an individual or group who has changed the lives of homeless animals in a way that encourages others to do the same. This year, the award will be given to one of the eight Broadway Barks founding shelters, BARC (Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition) Shelter, for their long time passion about the healing qualities of companion animals. Founded in 1987, Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill, privately run animal shelter located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. BARC’s mission is to provide a safe haven for abandoned animals and to find permanent loving homes for them.
