I agree. When I saw it in Los Angeles, the guy sitting beside me noted that when we turned in our cards and someone escorted us to our seats, the cards were placed face-up on top of the stack and the usher read out our seat number. He speculated (and this was before the show even began) that there was a camera above the stack -- meaning that, at that moment, your seat number and your card got tied to each other.
From there, I've got no idea if it's memorization or earpiece or what. At one point, I had a theory that he was cued by a video screen (the same way that actors in musicals can see the off-stage conductor), and that he had us all stand up so nobody would look back for it. I looked around and didn't see anything, though. |
