It's also currently streaming on Spotify. I think it sounds great.

(I also think the soundtrack/cast recording war has been lost for those of who cling to proper nomenclature. Let's just turn the page and let it be.)

...don't complain if it doesn't include The Music That Makes Me Dance.

Who goes to stores anymore? And who on the staff at one of these stores would know the difference between the two albums (what's an album?) themselves?

As much as I have deeply mixed feelings about the way that Amazon and Spotify et al have irrevocably changed our world, I acknowledge that it has happened. I fought the fight for "Cast Recordings" for many decades, and I still will occasionally and involuntarily bark out "cast recording" if someone incorrectly says "soundtrack", but really, the world has moved on.

"soundtrack" vs "cast recording"

Just gotta admit, I hear a LOT of working musical theatre people -- even in current Broadway shows -- refer to a cast recording as a soundtrack.

But here's at least a modicum of hope.

If i say "Alexa, play the HAMILTON soundtrack," she serves up "The Hamilton Mixtape." If I say, "Alexa, play the HAMILTON cast recording," I get the Broadway cast recording.

There was an Al Pacino movie about a serial killer(I forget the film's name) but SPOILER ALERT a disreputable character worked in a record store and he got VERY upset with a customer who confused sound track with cast album....... When I first moved to Michigan there was a music store, all 'classical' except for Bway shows. they did not even list symphonies by composer, they were listed alphabetically by conductor. And the Broadway section, at the front of the store. Was arranged by, first, cast albums, then soundtracks, London Cast albums, Ben Bagley, and lastly, vocals and anthologies .Heaven it was to be young in that store!
