| A small show on a big subject which is ironic since GONE MISSING is clearly aiming for the reverse. Small losses can have great meanings, of course, but these meanings are not mined here. The songs--there are too few of them--are accomplished and promising, the work of a young composer who was clearly gifted, but they don't really deepen or amplify the show's themes, such as they are. The true stories, culled from interviews with New Yorkers, are amusing and they're well told, but they're also persistently slight and they don't amount to much. Consequently the show, which is brief, seems longer than it is; it's scant in every way. | |

| I realize it's deliberately obscured until late in the show, but that's why it was written, and that's why the interviewees keep reminding us they're not supposed to talk about losing people. | |

| The show is not for everyone, and I think it made a better first impression when performed by actual Civilians under Steve Cosson's direction, but I found this revival to be even more emotionally rich than the original, because of how it reflected the passage of time and our loss of Michael. I find it a simple yet devastating show that quite smartly knows how to create a large event out of our quotidian existence, which reflects the basic tension of being alive. |

| I found the small moments of loss mined in this show very moving. And I agree, I was even more moved than when first seeing the show years ago because we have lost Michael Friedman. | |
