| A small show on a big subject which is ironic since GONE MISSING is clearly aiming for the reverse. Small losses can have great meanings, of course, but these meanings are not mined here. The songs--there are too few of them--are accomplished and promising, the work of a young composer who was clearly gifted, but they don't really deepen or amplify the show's themes, such as they are. The true stories, culled from interviews with New Yorkers, are amusing and they're well told, but they're also persistently slight and they don't amount to much. Consequently the show, which is brief, seems longer than it is; it's scant in every way. |
