I always thought that Sonny and Cher borrowed so much inspiration from their role models Louis Prima and Keely Smith. Keely was also part Cherokee--just like Cher. Keely found amazing success as part of a husband/wife act --just like Cher. Then left her husband and had a successful career on her own--just like Cher.
There was a wonderful musical about Louis and Keely in LA. It was sensational. I don't know think it ever made it to NY. Someone needs to write a movie of their lives. They really deserve to be rediscovered and what a great story!! |
