These long runs shows have such new dynamics

I have seen casts be cruel to one another but the shows didn’t run very long. With shows that long as long as Chicago it must be a very different dynamic backstage.

A routine sets in. Habits are formed and top dogs are established.

When I first joined this list several members were not kind about having a new voice added to the mix. One long-time member seemed to have a sense of ownership over the list!

Humans patterns of behavior are very complex. Let’s all try to be a little kinder and treat people the way we want to be treated.

Have you? Where have you seen this?

Don't mistake people bristling at naiveté or silliness or erroneousness for a chilliness to new voices. My impression over a fairly long period is that folks here respect intelligent contributions, without regard to whether the contributor is new or old.

Not to disagree with your call for greater civility (which I also think includes learning the norms of any group you join, which is simply part of what is today called cultural competence), it IS worth pointing out that this site is indeed "owned" by its moderator(s) and we are here at their discretion.

You're very generous to Rob's attempt to both rewrite history and make someone else's personal tragedy all about him. I think his post is helpful as a reminder that being in this business is all about navigating egos, whether your show runs for a week or a decade. I do wonder if any of the other long-running shows have amassed the body count of "Chicago" (said tongue firmly in cheek), but the toxicity on display with that show is only slightly more grotesque than the industry norm for bad behavior. I hope that this event does continue to expose how certain powerful people treat their employees, and that this does build into a proper movement.
