| I love the idea that Laurents being "alive" for the last revival was the "PR hook" for the production. As if anyone outside of a small number of theater people know or care about that. And to state as fact that Hello Dolly only worked when Bette was in it... absurd. |

| His website often breaks the best theatre news! I sat behind him at The Tony Awards a few years ago and everyone came over to say ‘Hello’ to him. He clearly has solid sources. On a personal level, he’s also a good guy and well respected. |

| Someone who doesn't get Ivo van Hove's name right is not an "excellent reporter." That isn't a typo. It's ignorance. He clearly has no idea who Ivo van Hove is, and clearly didn't bother doing any research. |

| Like the name of a Tony-winning and world-famous theatrical director in the second paragraph. The history of Friedman's controversial reporting is available online to anyone who knows how to use Google. Also, as a rule, ''excellent reporters'' don't get dumped, er, ''mutually agree to part ways immediately'' with Fox News over a breach of ethics. |

| From the article "We just had a really great 'West Side Story' revival from 2009 to 2011." NO, we did NOT. |

| No reason to think Spielberg would be any more fazed by competing film and stage adaptations than he was last time. | |

| ... as it's been in "pre-production" for years now. Spielberg keeps taking other projects which seem more urgent, like "The Post" last year, "Ready Player One" this year, and now whatever the next Indiana Jones is going to be, along with "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara" with Mark Rylance. Kushner may have a script ready to go, but this remake is still a long way off, I think. - GMB |

| Apparently, the movie has moved from pre-production to active pre-production. He has moved into the casting stages. | |

| I am dumbfounded that Spielberg (of all people) really thinks we need a REMAKE of "West Side Story." If he wants to do a musical, why not something original or something never before adapted? I really don't get it. | |

| I am dumbfounded that Spielberg (of all people) really thinks we need a REMAKE of "West Side Story." Why "of all people"? I can think of several previous remakes that Spielberg either directed or produced. |

| I just never though I'd see WSS remade as it is such a classic (10 Oscars, I believe) and I am surprised Spielberg, who says he reveres classics, would want to attempt to top it. | |

| Not a single sentence in that article says anything about a conflict between these two producers. Neither of them comment on the other. It's a made up story. | |

| It made be a made up story but I certainly wondered how first class Broadway rights were granted to Rudin when the Spielberg version was ready to roll. | |
