If (and only if):
1. You've paid the slightest bit of attention here for however long you've been around, and
2. You have the slightest bit of concern about conveying accurate information, and
3. If you are posting here for any reason other than what I suspect,
[and I have zero confidence that any of these conditions are true]
Then you would know that the percentage gross [which is the percentage of potential gross, not total gross (which doesn't make any sense as all shows would be at 100% at all times)] is not a relevant metric vis-a-vis the success of a show. (For that, you need to know the show's nut.)
Notwithstanding, sometimes one must step back from the nickles and dimes and make a more fundamental assessment of "success." I know one woman, a progressive Democrat, who was inspired to run for public office after seeing The Terms of My Surrender. I would consider the show a success because of that, even if it lost every penny. And I suspect a lot of other people would concur. |
