| This would follow on the heels of ''Chicago's'' own announced investigation by attorney Judd Burstein. At the same time, the JusticeforJeff blog quotes one anonymous source who says people are ''very afraid for their jobs'' and afraid to talk to Burstein. The BroadwayWorld report also says the producers have offered grief counseling to the company, and is working with the cast on a tribute to Jeff. |

| I heard tonight from a former "Chicago" leading player, who spoke with the Weisslers' investigating attorney, that this Stifelman person will shortly be indefinitely dismissed. Looking forward to public confirmation. | |

| I clicked on that link, got a pop-up telling me to download a new version of Flash Player, which I tried to close, but when I did, it downloaded anyway, and now I'm losing space like crazy on my Mac. I'd heard about this, but I wasn't expecting it to happen to me, especially since I tried to exit the damn thing. | |

| A friend tried it and had no problem. It was weird. He said that the problem may have been in my Mac, but it's not happening on other sites. Anyway, after an hour or so, my Mac calmed down and all seems fine now. So I guess my Mac fought it off successfully. | |

| When wondering about this last night, I posted about it on Facebook. One friend said what I mentioned above. Another wrote this: "BroadwayWorld's pop-ups are the worst. I don't know why the site is so prone to them, but it happens just about every time I visit the site." | |

| It is the worst, and enough to keep one from going there. I have about three layers of blockers on that site and it still doesn't prevent all of the nuisance popups. That said, however, it sounds like you do not have Flash (an outdated and partly deprecated technology that BWW still employs a lot) on your computer, which would create a different situation than just popups. I can understand the website inviting you to download flash if it can't find it but to do it without permission is a major no-no. |

| Equity's hiring of J. Bruce Maffeo has ''created tensions'' with Judd Burstein, the lawyer the Weisslers hired to probe Jeff Loeffelholz's death. BroadwayNews reports that Burstein says ''Chicago's'' cast and crew and affiliated unions have been reluctant to speak to him. It adds: According to emails shared with press by Burstein, Maffeo wrote in a July 13 email to Burstein that he would “not agree to your interviewing any of the union members pending the conclusion of the union’s internal investigation of the matter.” |

| I do not question that Jeff was signed to a RUN OF THE PLAY contract - and that language was once upon a time possible (but not required) to be used. It has always been possible to sign an artist to 'Term Contracts', for any term of 6 months or longer. (I believe the term expires if the production closes!) Why any Producer would have ever signed a 'Run of the Play' contract is a bit of a mystery to me. Putting that aside - Playbill.com keeps saying "A 21-year veteran cast member who had been with the revival since it opened in 1996, Loeffelholz was the standby for Mary Sunshine. He was the last remaining cast member signed to their original run-of-show-contract, a standard agreement found in all Broadway production contracts meant to protect jobs for members of a show’s original cast." There is certainly no such language in the current AEA production Contract. There is Term language, where a Producer and Artist can agree to lock in a certain number of years - or invent a run of play clause. But in its basic format, the contract does not assume any fixed legnth of agreement other than what the Producer and Artist agrees. There is no guarantee explicity or implicitly noted the teh AEA contract guaranteeing an actor a role for life as long as the show runs. This is more or less of a myth. |

| Jeff Loeffelholz's suicide is just one of many instances of harassment and abuse going on at CHICAGO!! | |

| I hope Equity interviews former employees as well, especially those that were terminated with no warning or notice. Hostile and toxic workplace environments should not be tolerated, even on Broadway. We need to stand in support of those speaking out. Two people have already taken their lives due to this harassment and bullying. Let's not let this happen to anyone else!! |

| I feel for everyone who works at CHICAGO and is afraid to speak up about the working environment. These people are the best of the best and working at the top of their fields. There really isn't anywhere they could go in the business to earn as much or more money then they are currently doing. If they were to lose their jobs and, heaven forbid, get blackballed from the industry for speaking the truth, it could destroy their lives. But, just like with the #metoo movement, nothing is ever going to change unless people are brave enough to come forward and speak truth. I imagine that, if someone was fired and/or blackballed for speaking their truth, it would be very difficult to prove and very difficult for that person to sue for recompense. |

| No job or job failure or job setback or reputation setback is worth the taking one’s own life, in my opinion. I’m reminded of my horror when Bernie Madoff’s son took his own life. And the horror of “Death of a Salesman.” And it was a common practise among the ancient Romans. I think it would be wondrous for our species to evolve, unequivocally, beyond this pattern of behavior, of equating our intrinsic value with our perceived value. |

| Especially in todays climate, and with all productions now required by AEA to have anti harassment/anti discrimination policies in place, with reporting and investigotary ground rules - its crucial that acts that seem to violate these policies and norms be reported immediately. Usually to Company Manager/General Manager - and copied to AEA via the deputy. All of these policies now in place have very strong language forbidding retaliation of any kind for the reporting of what a performer (or technician, or stage hand, or designer) feels is abusive behavior. Early reporting is crucial. |
