I saw the Saturday matinee show this past weekend. I had relatives in town & three young cousins saw this as their first broadway show. We had orchestra right seats, row H. I was stunned to see how many empty seats were in the orchestra. We bought the tickets back in May with a slight discount (I think $89 or $99/ticket). There were a half dozen empty seats in the row in front of us, fully empty rows behind us, or maybe 3/4 empty for some of them back at least 6 rows. The rear part of the side orchestra was filled-guessing there's a price break. I was surprised no one moved down during intermission. I think it was similar on the left side orchestra. Center orchestra seemed well-filled. There were people upstairs, but I didn't note how full it was up there.
I didn't think the show was as effective as when I saw it with the original cast, but the kids loved it. The matinee Dewey is really channeling Jack Black in a major way. |
