I was blessed to see him in many shows at the Sacramento Music Circus over the years, and he was always incredibly wonderful! But my favorite memory was when he was Pseudolus in FORUM. He ran through the audience during the chase scene, and he ran through my row, suddenly plopping right down in my lap!! I stayed afterward to say hello to him, and he recognized me, saying, "Thanks for letting me steal your lap!" Always, always loved him, he was a sweetheart.

So sad.

But as others have said, at least he went peacefully and most likely unaware of any pain.

I have a mutual friend in common with Mr. Beach and got some details a little while ago. It appears he passed away in his sleep. Most likely a heart attack.

Great closer for the obituary and timely.
-----------------------
Mr. Beach’s last Broadway role was as Thénardier, the crooked innkeeper, in the 2006 revival of “Les Misérables,” which in its first incarnation had run for 6,680 performances over 16 years. In his interview with Ms. Acker, he joked about how he got that part.

“My agent called and said, ‘Tara Rubin’ — who’s a big casting director in New York City — ‘wants to know if you’d like to be part of the most popular musical in the world,’” Mr. Beach recalled. “And I said, ‘Is there something for me in “Mamma Mia!”?’”

Funny comment.

I didn't know he had gone into Les Miz.

I waited on him in a store I worked at as a teen. I saw him in Les Miz in LA. (he originated the role there and like all theater kids I had read my program so much I knew everybody's name) I asked him if he would go into the Broadway cast. (this was sometimes post the LA run and pre-Producers.)

First he was shocked that I knew his name. Second he said he didn't think he wanted to go into Les Miz in NY "at this stage" meaning it had been running so long.

Not so anymore. If he did die in his sleep, I’m glad he didn’t suffer.

So sad...feels like just yesterday he was shining on the Bdway stage. Found a FB page of his with lots of tributes already, & he himself had last posted around 12a.m yesterday, it showed. Peaceful way to go if he did pass in his sleep, but such a sad shock for his partner in ANY case. Shine on, Mr. Beach. :(
