Part of what makes a Tony Award special is that it's given for originating a role … in a new show or fresh revival.
As others have noted, the logistics of judging replacements, especially in long-running musicals, would be crazy.
The Tonys could recognizie an incredible replacement with a special Tony, like they did with Pearl Bailey in ''Hello, Dolly!'' (1968).
