| I agree, carolinaguy. I've spent a lot of time working as a teaching artist in high schools, and Apex Predator brilliantly musicalizes the brutality of the social hierarchies I've observed. Revenge Party is insanely catchy and allow us to musically advance with rapidity developments in the plot that take quite a bit longer to unfold in the movie. I think Sexy perfectly musicalizes Karen's worldview while also cleverly commenting on it ("This is modern feminism talkin': I expect to run the world in shoes I cannot walk in!"); Someone Gets Hurt and World Burn give Regina a diabolically Bond voice while providing a thrilling showcase for Louderman; I'd Rather Be Me is the anthem I want my adolescent nieces to take to heart; and, as manipulative and corny as it is, I See Stars is tuneful and--I'm ashamed to admit it!--genuinely moved me...they were the words I wished I had heard from the prom queen in my high school. |
