In one of his plays, an actress (let me call her Jane Smith) who had a walk-on with a few lines was demanding that her billing be moved to the bottom of the printed cast list with "And Jane Smith" in a box. Coward replied if she wasn't careful her billing would read "But Jane Smith" in that box.
